Loss Run Report

Also known as: Loss History

A carrier-issued history of a policyholder's past claims, used to gauge risk and set premiums.

A loss run lists the claims filed under a policy over a period, typically the last three to five years, including amounts paid and reserved. Insurers use it to price coverage, and it reveals how claims-prone a business has been.

GCs occasionally request loss runs from higher-risk subs during prequalification. A heavy claims history can signal a sub whose work, or whose premiums, may create problems down the line.
