Subcontractor Prequalification

Also known as: Prequal

Vetting a subcontractor's insurance, finances, and qualifications before awarding work or granting site access.

Prequalification is the upfront check that a sub is fit to work, confirming insurance coverage, licensing, safety record, and capacity before a contract is signed. Insurance review is a central piece, since an uninsured or underinsured sub is a liability from day one.

Building COI collection into prequalification means a sub is never cleared for site access without proof of coverage on file, closing one of the most common gaps in subcontractor management.
