Policy Terms & Limits

Policy Period

Also known as: Policy Term

The span of time, from effective to expiration date, during which an insurance policy provides coverage.

The policy period is the coverage window, typically twelve months, running from the effective date to the expiration date. Claims are generally covered based on when the loss occurs (occurrence policies) or when the claim is made (claims-made policies) relative to this period.

Because subs may carry coverages with different policy periods, GCs track each line separately rather than assuming one renewal date covers everything on the certificate.

CoiLoop collects COIs and W-9s through no-login links, uses AI to read each certificate and check limits, endorsements, and dates against your requirements, and warns you before anything expires.
