Insurance Binder

Temporary proof of coverage issued before the formal policy is finished, confirming insurance is in force right now.

A binder is a short-term document that confirms coverage has been bound while the carrier finalizes the full policy paperwork. It carries the same key details as a certificate, limits, dates, and coverages, and is legally binding for its term.

A sub who just renewed or switched carriers may hand over a binder before the new COI is available. GCs can accept it as interim proof, but should follow up to collect the formal certificate once it is issued.

Track this on every subcontractor

CoiLoop collects COIs and W-9s through no-login links, uses AI to read each certificate and check limits, endorsements, and dates against your requirements, and warns you before anything expires.
