Per-Occurrence Limit

Also known as: Each Occurrence Limit

The maximum an insurer will pay for any single claim or event, regardless of how many claims arise that year.

The per-occurrence limit caps what the policy pays for one incident. A $1M each-occurrence general liability limit means a single covered event, one accident, one injury, is covered up to $1M no matter how many separate occurrences happen during the year.

This is usually the first number a GC checks against the contract minimum. It pairs with the aggregate limit, which caps total payouts across the whole policy period.
