Commercial Auto Liability

Also known as: Business Auto

Coverage for injury and damage caused by a subcontractor's vehicles used for business, such as work trucks.

Commercial auto liability covers claims arising from vehicles a sub uses for the business, hauling materials, driving between sites, or operating a work truck on your project. Personal auto policies typically exclude business use, so this is a distinct requirement.

GCs commonly require a combined single limit (often $1M) and may ask to be added as an additional insured on the auto policy when subs are driving on or around the jobsite.
